Hello and welcome to The Elms

Our Home

The Elms is a large Georgian building situated within a local conservation area in the village of Clifton-upon-Dunsmore, which is on the outskirts of Rugby. There are local shops and there is a public house, shop, hairdressers and church within the village.

The Elms is an established Residential Home providing full residential accommodation with 24 hour personal care in a loving, family-like environment to clients who, by reason of advancing years, find it difficult to continue living by independent means. We accept permanent, respite, short stay and emergency admissions.

The Elms is committed to providing holistic, high quality person and family centred care for its residents. Our well trained carers understand the challenges facing the person and their families. By using frequent assessments of abilities and needs, staff ensure the right level support is in place to enable the person living in our Home continuing to have a fulfilling life.

Features of the Home

We have accommodation for 25 residents and all rooms have 24 hour nurse call bell facilities. All furniture and furnishings are provided but our residents are encouraged to have their rooms furnished in their own personal style and taste and are welcome to have any personal knick-knacks or possessions that they may wish to have. Similarly, should they wish to pursue hobbies or activities familiar to them, every endeavour is made to ensure that the equipment, materials and space are available to enjoy these pursuits.

Any specialist equipment assessed as necessary to promote health and safety is made available and used by staff to ensure our resident’s needs are met in an appropriate and safe manner.

Two comfortable lounges and a conservatory plus dining room add to the comfort of the Home. A pleasant patio area lies within well established landscaped grounds.

Our Staff

We have a qualified and experienced care team who are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We continually invest in training our staff which enables our care staff to gain QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework) qualifications in care. This helps us to continue to improve the care provided to all residents.

Our Services

We offer:

A senior staff member always completes a pre-admission assessment to determine whether or not we can meet each person’s needs. This information is then used to create a personalised care plan for the prospective resident and after admission; the care plan is expanded to provide comprehensive information about the health, wellbeing and care of the resident. Regular reviews of the care plan are undertaken with the involvement of each resident and if more appropriate with their families.

Additionally, we convene regular Resident’s Meetings where we consult with residents about their daily life in the Home and note their preferences or dislikes.

We offer a well balanced, nutritional menu choice with fresh fruit and vegetables, home baked cakes, with personal preferences and dietary needs catered for. Additional snacks and refreshments are available on request.

Our staff realise the importance of stimulation and have daily schedules of activities to aid motivation and help prevent monotony. In addition, independent companies visit to provide regular sessions of games, music and physical activities.

Maintaining Our High Standards

The Elms is registered by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the body empowered by the Government to regulate care homes. They inspect the Home regularly to ensure that high standards of care are maintained and the reports they publish can be viewed on their website.

In addition, contract and monitoring officers from Warwickshire County Council carry out quality checks on the service so that they can be confident that the Home’s good standards are being maintained.
